First "Incident" Report

So we got our first report from school on Monday Nov.16, 2009. Wilson picked you up from school (b/c I was getting a root canal) and Ms Joanie told him that a little boy poured dirt and mulch down your shirt. Your daddy did a great job talking to you about it. You told him it was Baxter and he explained that Baxter didn't realize that was not a nice thing to do and that you are still friends and will play together at school. That Daddy he is the best. When I asked you about it you put your hand out and said Baxter no no, no no Baxter. Today I picked you up from school and Ms Melissa told me more, she said that you had a wonderful day today, in fact when I got there you said no I don't want to leave. Anyway, Ms Melissa said that Baxter is intimidated by the other little boys in your class and they believe he chose to pick on you because you are so little and sweet. They said Baxter had to go to the Director's office and they had a talk with him & his mom. Ms Melissa also said that she taught you to say No No Baxter and defend yourself. Your daddy and I are not upset at all, we are just enjoying seeing you grow up sooo much. We are so thankful for your wonderful school and loving teachers, and so proud that you are sweet, smart little person and that you are learning to defend yourself!!! We are overwhelmed with the joy of watching you grow up. Thank you Lord for these blessings!!!!

The Blame Game

Let the games begin!! Last week we were playing in the playroom with Ann Edwards & Lolly and when I asked you if you had a stinky diaper you said "No", shook your head and pointed at AE! You actually tried to blame your friend! What a stinker you are, but you can't fool us, remember that! :)

Nothing better than handmade

We got this table for you at an Auction for the Foundry, it was made by men at the Farm at the Foundry. Men that are allowing God to come into their hearts and restore them. The most precious gift on earth Jesus's love for us, and what a beautiful symbol for us and those precious men being made whole by turning their will and their lives over to Christ. For you it is just a really fun table on the front porch but to me it is a reminder of God's grace and Christ's love, I hope one day you know those gifts for yourself.

Bittersweet

We have officially moved from crying at school drop off to laughing and clapping. We actually raised your Dora sunshade and you pointed saying "Mommy, my school."

Last week you came home telling me all about the Mouse you got to see at school from Ed's pet world. Your teacher said, you kept asking to get the mouse out of it's cage. You still talk about that mouse and you made the most precious painting of it, we of course saved it. Loving you so much.

Oh yes and yesterday you shut the bathroom door and got locked inside with Arnie & Lola, I sat at the door and you tried to push your pacy underneath while we waited for Daddy to get home and free you.

Toe-iiiii

We were playing hide & surprise the other night, you would run around the living room through the dining room & your bedroom your dad and I were "hiding" in front of the couch. YOu stopped and started yelling Toooo-IIIIIII. And you kept pointing at we thought was Arnie, so we kept asking you What? Finally you said it again TOOOOOO-IIIIII and then your closed your eyes very tight. Then we understand you were saying Close your eyes!!!!!!!

Attached is the art project from Adelaide's first day at early arts. All the kids put there finger prints on their friends but Adelaide SCCCRREEAMED (that is how her teacher described it to me) whe n they tried to get her to finger paint. So on all her friends they just drew a circle where her fingerprint should have been and wrote her name. Today (her second day) her teacher said she was able to get her into the room where the other kids were painting, let her watch (while she clung on for dear life to her teacher) and that she did finally pick up a paint brush and paint her school bus. Oh my sweet girl, it seems to early for me to have taught her these things, so I am going with Genetics on this one b/c when I was in preschool I also refused to finger paint b/c I didn't want to get my hands dirty.

Yes I am very happy with your new school so far. When they asked me what I wanted to accomplish this year I said to make you feel secure enough to take risks and have fun, and just be a happy carefree child. So far so good :)

Loving you more every moment!

Your Second Birthday

It is 1:53pm August 13, 2009
I just put you down for your nap, you made it easy today!

We went into your bedroom a little before 7am this morning singing happy birthday and taking pictures and you had a carrot cake muffin with a candle for breakfast. Don't worry there are plenty of pictures! After we played with Diego and his tree house some we decided to go outside and bath the dogs, which is actually a fun activity for you right now. You were so helpful getting me the soap and the brush. When we were finished we had popsicles, you insisted I have orange and you had a yellow. Your Daddy said "you know it is going to be a good day when you have popsicles before 9am" So true!!
You also decorated a page for your baby book, you are quite an amazing little artist. And as it will be every year your Happy Birthday Banner is hanging over the fireplace.

Next we packed a picnic lunch and met Lolly and Ann Edwards (you call her Reese) at Overton Park. In completely predictable form we arrived at Overton Park in Mt Brook while Lolly & Ann Edwards were at the one in Homewood! I imagine things like this will happen a lot over the next several years. But they joined us in Mt. Brook we all wore Happy Birthday hats (don't worry plenty of pictures) while we ate. You ate some chicken, a few doritos, another carrot cake muffin, 1/2 a string cheese and some pear. Ann Edwards helped you with the pear & the veggie puffs (another favorite of yours right now) and she ate a pickle!!! What a big girl!
Then we put you two in the swings and you loved when we had you swinging at the same pace. Again have no fear Lolly took pictures :)

So after 2 hours in the park I would have thought you would be begging to leave, but NO you still had a tantrum, it was sad but I knew you were hot and needed to rest, so we packed  up and came home.

So what will we do when you wake up? I don't know for sure, but I promise to take pictures and write all about it my love!

First Lollipop

Thursday July 24, 2009 was the day of your first lollipop. I have been scared to give you one because they seem like a choking hazard and as you will learn as you grow older i am always one step away from calling 911 (haha). Anyway you didn't want to get in your car seat after school at All Saints and were throwing quite a temper tantrum, the sweet mommy parked next to us, said I'm glad I'm not the only one that happens to!" She offered you a lollipop, at which I first declined but as you continued to wail, and I could not buckle you in and finally gave in, figuring I could watch you closely all the way to our house 2 blocks away. You IMMEDIATELY stopped crying, I'm not even sure that you knew what it was, but you knew it had to be something good. You sat politely in your car seat and let me buckle you in, then we sat on the brown couch by the backdoor while you finished your treat. What a day! Not sure when I will let you have another one, soon enough I suppose. Loving you with all my heart!

Just so you know

It is 755pm, I am tired after a very long day, just wanted to tell you Adelaide how you brighten EVERYTHING. Your dad and I were fixing the sink and washing dishes and you came running in with my cell phone and I asked you to give it to me, at first you said no, but I asked you again and you handed it right to me so sweetly and my heart melted. You are such a sweet loving little person, after that we played and laughed on the couch, your laugh is so deep and full I hope you never ever lose that. I gave you your baby's blanket to take with you to go to sleep you said good night to me, Arnie Lola and your high chair. Your love is so pure and perfect. Loving you forever!

And you also chipped your tooth today, we don't know how but think it happened at school.

Loving you so much!
Mom

From Fashion to Function

So who could have ever predicted that my dark straight haired newborn, "practically bald"baby  (I still feel a stab in my heart over that quote), would turn into a curly haired blonde toddler!!!! But that she has!!!.

No longer do we use hair bows for my mere amusement, nor as fashion accessories, nowadays I pick up a curly headed princess saying "BOW BOW BOW BOW" as she wipes her locks out of her face begging me to clip it back so she can chase Arnie & Lola with ease. No longer do we get to clip it sweetly to the side, now we must pull it straight back & tight, so it doesn't slow her down!!!

I don't really know if it was the lifting of the new mother fog, simply the removal of my rose colored glasses, or the cold hard science of fact, that allows me to see clearly the delusions from which I once suffered, but I believe God has either a sense of humor or gave me divine knowledge that one day Adelaide would indeed  have Beautiful Blonde Bow Worthy Hair! For that is what I saw all along.

Delusions

From the day she was born, I suffered delusions about Adelaide's hair. The first being the color. On the day she was born, I told my mom over the phone that her hair was "blonde".  (see above for clarification).

Whatever the color there was no denying the fact that I LOVED putting Bows in it! What joy it brought me on those cold winter days of 2008! (No tape was required in the picture below)!

On the very day pictured below, I will never forget telling a mother of 3, youngest being the same age of Adelaide, "you can totally get a bow in that!" Referring of course, to her own daughter's head of sprouting fuzz. The look on her face was my first indication, that MAYBE Adelaide didn't have as much hair as I thought.....

The Beginning

Only two days ago I said that the blog trend was one that would pass me, because I didn't have time for that too. But yesterday after reading my sweet friend Laurie Ann's I realized what a gift she was creating for Ann Edwards, and I decided to do the same for Adelaide since I haven't done a good job of updating her baby book. Laurie Ann made a good point since i take pictures of Adelaide every day it should be easy to create this small but important timeline for my sweet baby girl. I don't ever want her to doubt how special she is or how much we love her!

So Adelaide this is for you. I love you with all my heart and soul you make each day more fun and your pure joy, love and innocence is a gift that God has given us. Thank you for enriching every moment of every day. I pray every day (at least once) that I can be the mother that God wants me to be to you, to mold you into the daughter of him that he has in mind for you. I know i don't always get it right but I know that God can turn all things for his glory and I am so thankful for that.
